Number Two's

Lady Scouts number two was held at Miss Pip's house! Due to the late notice invite we only had a small intimate group of four (but that just meant more wine and yummy foods for us!!).
Pip held a mini clothes swap and attempted to teach us a card game. I say attempt due to the two glasses of wine, and little miss Emily's interest in also trying to "learn" the game!!
The result was some seriously good belly laughs and not alot of luck of actually understanding the game at all!

I say who cares about the card game! the company was choice! and laughing really is the best therapy.

Elisha bought along her finished
"softie" toy from lady scouts 1 and
Miss Emily thought it was very tasty indeed!

Before the show begins...

For the very first lady scouts I have decided to share the craft of doll making. This is something which I have taught myself over the past few months, and apart from being lots of fun is also a great way to use up your scrap fabric!!!
I start by searching the net and magazines for inspiration and print out a variety of cute toys. Then I sketch the image of what I would like to create (true to size) onto butchers paper. I cut this out and pin it onto scrap pieces of fabric and use this as a guide to cut out my shape.
Choosing the fabric is the best part, mixing and matching old pieces of scrap fabric (even cutting up unwanted old clothes/ linen).
Any embellishments (eyes/mouth/hair etc) need to be stitched onto the body first (either by hand or machine) and then put the right sides of the body fabrics together and join on the machine (leaving a 4cm hole so that you can turn the toy inside out (and this leaves room to insert stuffing). After stuffing the toy with craft filling simply hand sew up the small 4cm hole and WA-LA!!!! You have a cute one off hand made little friend!!
